Shot Peening

Shot peening is a cold working process used to increase the fatigue life of metal parts.  Parts are bombarded with round steel, glass, or ceramic shot under controlled conditions to induce a stressed surface layer in compression.  This surface layer inhibits the formation of tiny surface cracks which give way to fatigue failure.  The compressive stresses are also beneficial in increasing resistance to corrosion fatigue and stress corrosion cracking.  Shot peening can also be used to control porosity and for surface texturing.

Abrasive Blasting & Vapor Blasting

Abrasive Blasting is done to remove surface contaminates such as rust, paint, scale, etc.  Vapor blasting is done using a fine abrasive mixed in water to lightly clean parts.  Peening Technologies offers grit blasting, vapor blasting, plastic bead and wet and dry glass bead blasting to meet your requirements.  We have a number of blast cabinets including walk in blast rooms.

Media Finishing

Vibratory finishing is typically done to improve surface finish after shot peening.  We offer a variety of finishing mills.
